American Idol first winner Kelly Clarkson is well-known for her powerful voice since 2002. She has plenty hit songs that gained several awards from her amazing performance. She went from unknown talent to a world class singer who performed in front of millions of people.

Born Kelly Brianne Clarkson on April 24, 1982 in Texas, she used to sing in high school choir. Her teacher was the one who recognized her singing ability when Clarkson was a seventh grader. Clarkson then moved to Los Angeles in order to make her name by appearing as an extra in few television show. She also did some part time jobs to support herself. After returning to Texas in 2002, Clarkson joined Fox’s new talent show called American Idol. She was one of thousands contestants.

Her singing talent was no joke. She impressed the judges and beat all the participant with her impressive stage presence. For around 13 weeks show, she constantly showed an improvement by singing to “Respect” and other songs. Clarkson got 58 percent of the total votes and finally became the first winner on September 4, 2002. Her winning prize was a recording contract with RCA, $1 million, and got several bookings for national tour and prestigious performance of national anthem. She rose to fame with her debut single, “A Moment like This” that released not too long after her win and followed by an album Thankful. Her debut single successfully reached No. 1 on the Billboard Charts. In 2004, she released her second album called Breakaway with the hit single “Because of You” and “Since U Been Gone”. The album led her to a Grammy Award for the Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance in 2005.

Kelly Clarkson decided to co-write her songs for the followed album, My December in 2007. It showed more of Clarkson’s dark rock vibe than the previous album. Even though the album got positive feedback by topping the pop charts, her clash with a label executive Clive Davis made her cancelled the concert tour. Clarkson continues to score great achievement after another. Her single “My Life Suck without You” from her fourth album, peaked from No. 97 to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2009. She earned Grammys for Best Pop Vocal Album for her pop-rock album All I Ever Wanted (2009) and Stronger (2011). Her hit single “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” was an international chart-topper. Kelly Clarkson became of one the coach of singing competition show The Voice in 2018. She also joined as a cast and lent her voice to the animated comedy UglyDolls the following year.
